The Premier League transfers window shut a couple of weeks ago so I figured it would be cool to make a list of the best deals made. Of course, as with every list, there are criteria. We’ll measure each transfer by three factors: ability, need, and value for money.
Premier League Transfers Criteria
1. Ability
This should be the easiest. How good is the player? I’ll be judging each player from what is called the eye-test,
Simply put, the eye test is a way to judge an athlete as they compete within their sport based upon your own observations. Not by statistics, but by the media or any other means other than your own two eyes. – Domenic Scarano from Bleacher Report
…that is, of course, if I have seen the player play. if not, I’ll do my rigorous research on YouTube.
2. Need
Did the club in question need the player? Sometimes, clubs buy players because of availability, affordability, or the need to weaken their rivals. I’ll be judging whether or not the team was in desperate need of the player’s services.
3. Value for money
Unless they are Neymar, Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Lionel Messi, a player’s marketability isn’t going to match the amount of money the club shelled out for them in the first place. This is football in 2019. That being said, they are still some great deals you can find in the premier league transfers market.
