Kaizer Chiefs decided to extend Siphelele Ntshangase’s contract for another year. This has come as a surprise to myself and many onlookers. Siphelele Ntshangase seemed like a player Ernst Middendorp had cancelled. He was surely going to be booted out the door like Joseph Malongoane, right?
Wrong.

Ntshangase’s agent Jazzman Mahlakgane didn’t see what the big deal was:
“My logic dictates that when a club extends the contract of a player‚ the technical team should have had extensive discussions about it‚”
“They must have had long discussions about the issue as the technical team‚ so why would a team extend a contract of a player knowing that they don’t want him.
“What I know is that if things don’t go well‚ he will be a free agent but like in any other business you take a risk.
Ernst Middendorp seems to have a set squad that he works with. But, with the departure of regular midfielder George Maluleka to Mamelodi Sundowns, it seems as though they may be room for another midfielder.
Kaizer Chiefs this season has played in a standard 4-4-2. Ntshangase is more of a central attacking midfielder than he is a central box-to-box type midfielder like Maluleka. A type of midfielder that is best suited in a 4-4-2 formation.
Well, they signed him for another season, so I guess they have plans to use him in some way. 🤷🏿♂️
